Statewide Information and Referral Services The organizations listed below may be helpful in identifying and locating appropriate resources, programs, supports or services in Wisconsin. Wisconsin Parent Network List Serv This group is created to bring families of children who are Deaf and hard of hearing together in a supportive forum. The goal is to provide an environment that allows for exchange between parents; to provide opportunities for networking by community, by region and throughout the state of Wisconsin. _________________________________________________ Information and referral hotline for children and adolescents ages birth to age 21 with special needs. _________________________________________________ Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) Five Regional CYSHCN Centers in Wisconsin provide free and confidential assistance to providers and children with special health care needs and their families. _________________________________________________ Birth to 3 is Wisconsin’s early intervention program for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities and their families. A federal law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), provides a framework for a comprehensive program and coordinates developmental, health and social services within the community. _________________________________________________ Wisconsin Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing The Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH) provides community and informational resources in regions, and technical assistance and training in communication assistive technology, Deaf Culture, and hard of hearing issues. ODHH provides information on and can assist with the application to the Telecommunications Equipment Purchase Program (TEPP) and Telecommunications Assistance Program (TAP). _________________________________________________ Wisconsin Educational Services Program The Outreach program provides information, support, and training to school districts and educational programs in serving deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind children and their families. Services and support are determined based on the child's needs. _________________________________________________ Back to Top Statewide General Resources Wisconsin Association for the Deaf (WAD) The mission of WAD is to ensure that a comprehensive and coordinated system of resources is accessible to Wisconsin people who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, enabling them to achieve their maximum potential, through independence, productivity, and integration into the community. _________________________________________________ Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CDHH) Provides early intervention services for children who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families with the goals of building children’s communication skills, enhancing their families ability to communicate with them. Additional services include: adult services, pre- and post-cochlear implant therapy, audiological services, interpreter referral services and communication technology equipment. _________________________________________________ Deaf and Hard of Hearing Alliance (DHHA) The mission of DHHA is to provide opportunities for leadership and personal growth within the Signing (Deaf) community while respecting culture, language, and a visual environment. This will be accomplished through collaborative social, recreational, and educational programming. _________________________________________________ Hearing Loss Association of Wisconsin Wisconsin State Association of Hearing Loss Association of America serves as an extension of the national HLAA organization, creating awareness of hearing loss within the state of Wisconsin. We promote awareness, education and self help for those with hearing loss through outreach, advocacy, education, legislative and equal access issues that affect those with hearing loss. HLAA-WI also serves to develop networking collaboration with other organizations within the state which are concerned with hearing loss. _________________________________________________ Back to Top Regional Resources - Northeast DEAF - Deaf Educators and Families Support and networking group for parents of deaf and hard of hearing children of all ages. Contact: Kennedy School, Green Bay 920-492-2640 _________________________________________________ The playgroup is for children who are deaf and hard of hearing ages birth to five. Parents and children are encouraged to participate in play, arts & crafts and stories. Activities are presented using sign language and speech. Hand-n-Hand also sponsors parent education and sign language classes. This group meets once a month.
